Why Do I Have Stained and Yellow Teeth?

What Causes Yellow Teeth?

The natural color of your teeth could be affected by many factors, resulting in pigmentation and internal discoloration on the tooth surface:

1. Natural aging process

3. Tobacco use (smoking or chewing tobacco), drinking coffee, tea, cola or red wine and eating colored foods such as cherries and blueberries

5. Teeth were damaged during childhood or have been treated with the antibiotic tetracycline

2. Plaque and tartar deposit

4. Excessive intake of fluoride (more than 2 parts per million fluoride) during teeth development causes them to look mottled

6. Trauma causing the teeth to become brown, gray or black.
