Oral Health - Sensitive

Have you experienced that electric stinging sensation as you take a sip of iced tea or a bite of a candy bar? Find out the causes, symptoms, and how to get rid of sensitivity in your teeth.

The Causes

Tooth sensitivity is usually caused by exposed dentin on root areas due to receded gums or periodontal disease. The dentin contains a large number of pores or tubes that run from the outside of the tooth to the nerve in the centre. Without the protection of enamel, these tubes can be stimulated by changes in temperature or certain foods.
